Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast; let it sit for about 5 minutes until bubbly. Then add melted butter and eggs.
  2. Gradually mix in flour until a dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  3. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  4. Mix brown sugar, cinnamon, and cocoa powder in another bowl to create the filling.
  5. Once risen, roll out the dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Spread softened butter over it and sprinkle the filling mixture evenly.
  6. Roll up tightly from one long side and slice into equal pieces (about 12).
  7. Place rolls on a parchment-lined baking sheet; cover and let rise for another 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for about 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  8. While baking, beat together cream cheese and butter until smooth; gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla extract.
  9. Once baked rolls have cooled slightly, generously frost while still warm.
